Chronicle Provides Proof of Asset Verification for Galaxy Digital’s First Tokenized CLO

Chronicle Provides Proof of Asset Verification for Galaxy Digital’s First Tokenized CLO

/ 3 min read

The Galaxy Digital (“Galaxy” or “Galaxy Digital”) tokenized CLO (“GACLO-1”) is a new-issue collateralized loan obligation (CLO) that is tokenized on the Avalanche blockchain. The CLO is used to support Galaxy's lending activities. The transaction was anchored by an approximately $50M allocation from Grove.

Chronicle is proud to announce that its Proof of Asset framework serves as the data verification layer supporting Galaxy Digital’s first CLO issuance. This new model for structured credit issuance combines traditional securitization frameworks with blockchain-based infrastructure.

“As financial products move onchain, the focus is no longer just on access, but on whether markets can trust and use the data behind them,” said Niklas Kunkel, Founder of Chronicle. “Chronicle Proof of Asset provides continuous, verifiable visibility into underlying fund assets, allowing structured credit to function as a usable, risk-aware primitive across onchain markets.”

As tokenized credit markets scale, verifiability becomes the foundation for institutional participation. Tokenization alone does not reduce risk. Continuous transparency at the individual loan level does. Chronicle Proof of Asset ensures that the underlying loan exposure and valuation inputs supporting Galaxy Digital’s tokenized CLO can be verified onchain, transforming securitized credit from static disclosure into a living, continuously attestable financial product.

A New Model for Institutional Participation in Onchain Credit Markets

Galaxy Digital’s tokenized CLO finances an uncommitted credit facility provided to Arch Lending, a crypto lending platform backed by Galaxy Ventures. Approximately $75 million has been financed to date, with the structure designed to scale up to $200 million as additional loans are originated.

This structure mirrors institutional credit markets while introducing the efficiencies of onchain execution, including instant settlement, structural transparency, and distribution across DeFi ecosystems.

Chronicle Proof of Asset: The Verification Layer

Proof of Asset is Chronicle’s framework designed to make underlying asset composition visible, verifiable, and usable across onchain markets.

Proof of Asset enables a secure, cryptographically verifiable data foundation that anyone can inspect on the Chronicle Dashboard, the visualization layer of Chronicle's Proof of Asset framework. Allocators, lending platforms, and risk managers can observe the same source-of-truth data.

More granular data across tokenized funds structure and their underlying holdings is how structured credit becomes compatible with automated risk management and capital-efficient onchain markets. Verified holdings-level data allows teams and agents to programmatically assess risk, update collateral parameters, and manage exposure in real time. As transparency increases, excess risk premiums decrease, enabling more efficient capital deployment.

Two Frameworks, Two Different Jobs

Proof of Reserves

Proof of Reserves is a verification mechanism that confirms an issuer holds sufficient reserves to back a liability. The output is a single figure that reflects a reserve balance compared against outstanding supply.

It works well for the use cases it was built around such as fiat-backed stablecoins that need to check that reserves equal or exceed circulating supply. Wrapped assets like WBTC also need confirmation that the underlying BTC actually exists and spot ETF attestations need a periodic snapshot of holdings. In each case, a headline number is the right answer to a binary question: backed or not backed.

The oracle infrastructure supporting PoR is straightforward by design. It consists of standard signature schemes, a single data feed, and a transparent update configuration. For assets with simple, static backing, that is exactly the right level of complexity.

Proof of Asset — A Framework Developed by Chronicle

Proof of Asset is designed for assets where the composition itself is critical. Rather than confirming that something backs a token, Proof of Asset surfaces exactly what backs it. And does so at the holdings level, with verification of each data input.

The output is a dataset instead of a single feature. This dataset consists of NAV, AUM, yield, maturity profile, per-holding breakdowns, and asset characteristics that are sourced directly from custodians and fund administrators rather than from the issuer's own reports. Valuation inputs are cross-referenced against separate pricing sources and cryptographic verification is applied to the full data pipeline.

These distinctions matter operationally, especially when other services are built on top of that stack. Chronicle Proof of Asset gives markets the information they need to price risk, set parameters, and respond to composition changes in real time. All of these are data points that matter to institutions and risk curators.

Point by Point Comparison

Institutional-Grade Structure Meets Onchain Execution

Galaxy described this issuance as establishing a new model for institutional participation in onchain credit markets.

. The structure preserves familiar securitization standards, including:

  • Senior tranche with SOFR +570 bps coupon
  • Monthly distributions
  • Defined maturity
  • Trustee and qualified custody infrastructure

Tokenization adds efficiency and programmability. Proof of Asset adds verifiability.

Together, they address one of the core historical risks in credit markets: information opacity. By making underlying asset data continuously observable, Chronicle helps reduce reliance on reputation and periodic reporting, replacing it with verifiable data.

The Role of Grove

Grove’s approximately $50 million anchor allocation signals institutional appetite for structured, onchain credit exposure. As an institutional-grade credit infrastructure participant within the Sky ecosystem, Grove’s involvement reinforces the market’s shift toward scalable, transparent credit frameworks.

Traditional CLO tranches are siloed products, held to maturity or traded in OTC markets. Once tokenized, senior or mezzanine tranches can serve as collateral in DeFi lending protocols, be packaged into structured vaults, or even route coupon payments directly to DAOs or onchain treasuries. This creates a new layer of capital efficiency: investors are not just earning yield but also reusing their positions as productive assets within broader DeFi ecosystems.

Enabling Utility and Distribution

Galaxy Digital’s debut tokenized CLO demonstrates that traditional securitization frameworks can operate natively onchain without compromising regulatory standards. By replacing periodic disclosure with continuous, holdings-level verification, Chronicle Proof of Asset enables broader distribution for issuers and unlocks automated risk management and more capital-efficient allocation for lending platforms. As this market scales, transparency scales with it, establishing a new foundation for how structured credit is verified, trusted, and used onchain.
