Chronicle Provides Proof of Asset Data Verification for NYLIM’s First Tokenized Fund Issued via Centrifuge
/ 3 min read
The NYLIM Anemoy U.S. High Yield Corporate Bond Segregated Portfolio (“HYB”) brings New York Life Investment Management’s established U.S. high-yield corporate bond strategy onchain through Centrifuge’s institutional fund infrastructure. Chronicle’s Proof of Asset framework provides the data verification layer supporting the fund’s onchain representation.
Bringing Institutional Credit Onchain
NYLIM manages approximately $807 billion in assets and is one of the largest active asset managers globally. HYB brings an established institutional high-yield strategy into tokenized markets for the first time.
The structure brings together NYLIM’s investment management expertise, Centrifuge fund issuance infrastructure, and Chronicle’s holdings-level data verification through Proof of Asset.
The launch reflects a broader shift taking place across capital markets. Tokenization is evolving from isolated pilots into a new distribution and operating layer for established financial products. Institutions are using onchain infrastructure not to replace the underlying investment strategy, but to expand how products can be issued, accessed, and eventually integrated across broader financial markets.
That evolution becomes more consequential as tokenization expands beyond relatively simple assets and into actively managed credit strategies. A high-yield fund is not represented by a single data point or reference price. Its risk profile depends on the composition, valuation, maturity, and characteristics of the underlying portfolio. Bringing these products onchain therefore requires data infrastructure capable of representing the fund with the same depth and specificity that institutional markets expect offchain.
“For tokenized funds, many of the inputs that determine value and risk still exist offchain, while the fund itself is represented onchain. Chronicle’s Proof of Asset framework helps bridge that gap by making holdings-level fund data available and verifiable to onchain markets.” — Anil Sood, Chief Strategy and Growth Officer, Centrifuge Labs
Verified Data for Tokenized Funds
For tokenized funds to become useful across onchain markets, the data supporting them must be accessible in a form that applications can consume and cryptographically verify.
For HYB issued via Centrifuge, Chronicle will verify portfolio composition and holdings-level data through its Proof of Asset framework. This gives institutions and DeFi platforms more granular information for evaluating the fund and managing risk. HYB is available across Avalanche and Ethereum ecosystems.
It also gives market participants greater visibility into the information supporting the fund’s onchain representation and creates a foundation for future integrations across lending markets, collateral frameworks, vaults, and other onchain financial applications.
The quality of this data will help determine how useful tokenized funds can become beyond their initial issuance. Lending markets, collateral frameworks, and risk managers cannot evaluate a fund solely from the existence of its token. They need information that allows them to understand the portfolio, assess changing risk, and establish appropriate parameters around its use.
“The next phase of tokenization is not simply about putting funds onchain. It is about making the assets inside them legible to the markets that want to use them. For institutional credit, that means holdings-level data that allows market participants to understand the portfolio, evaluate risk, and build around it.” — Niklas Kunkel, Founder, Chronicle
Proof of Asset — A Framework Developed by Chronicle
Chronicle is the longest-running oracle on Ethereum, with more than eight years of uptime supporting crypto-native and institutional assets. Proof of Asset is designed for assets where the composition itself is critical. Rather than confirming that something backs a token, Proof of Asset surfaces exactly what backs it. And does so at the holdings level, with cryptographic verification of each data input.
Proof of Asset already supports a growing range of tokenized financial products, each with different data requirements. For tokenized money market funds such as BlackRock’s BUIDL, verification can include portfolio holdings, custody information, and token supply across chains. For private credit products such as ACRDX and structured credit funds such as the Janus Henderson Anemoy AAA CLO Fund, the framework must represent more complex portfolios, layered collateral, and changing asset composition. With HYB issued via Centrifuge, Chronicle is extending that same holdings-level approach to an institutional U.S. high-yield corporate bond strategy.
The output is a dataset instead of a single feature. This dataset consists of NAV, AUM, yield, and asset characteristics that are sourced directly from custodians and fund administrators rather than from the issuer's own reports. Valuation inputs are cross-referenced against separate pricing sources and cryptographic verification is applied to the full data pipeline.
These distinctions matter when tokenized funds are used across lending markets, collateral frameworks, and other onchain applications. Chronicle Proof of Asset gives institutions and risk managers the holdings-level information needed to evaluate portfolio composition, set parameters, and respond as underlying data changes.
